SPT First Data Release: Pixel Weights for Maps in Sanson-Flamsteed Projection

spt_wgt_ra5h30dec-55_2008_150ghz_sfl_dr1.fits.gz
spt_wgt_ra5h30dec-55_2008_220ghz_sfl_dr1.fits.gz

These files contain combined weights for each pixel of South Pole Telescope (SPT) maps of the ra5h30dec-55 field observed during the 2008 season in the 150 GHz and 220 GHz bands, produced for the first SPT data release in December 2011. They are to be used with the associated map files, which use the Sanson-Flamsteed projection.

Averaging of SPT data from many detectors with inverse-noise-weighting is used to obtain a measurement of the signal in each pixel of the SPT maps. These files contain the weights for each map pixel, stored in the primary arrays of FITS files as 3120-pixel by 3120-pixel grids with a pixel size of 0.25 arcminutes. The units of the weights are arbitrary.

A complete description of the observations, data processing, calibration, instrument response, and mapmaking process for this data release is in Schaffer et al. 2011, ApJ, 743, 90.
